What size should you get?

I’m 6’1 | 170lbs and I purchased a size Large. They’re just slightly big on me, but not big enough to affect my performance. I probably would have gone with a Medium, but that size was sold out. Tbh it’s probably better that I have a little extra room if I ever want/need to add a hand warmer into the mitten, it would fit perfectly.

Dakine Leather Scout Mitt Features

The coolest feature by far is the ice and snow scraper on the thumb of the left mitten. If you’re a skier or snowboard this is an awesome feature to clean off your goggles after a wicked run… or wipe out. And it’s rubber so it shouldn’t scratch your lens. The right thumb has a nose wipe to handle cold weather sniffles.

The leather palms offer grip when holding on to your poles on the slopes or hiking on the trail. They’re tough enough to comfortably grab sticks and branches when it comes time to gather fuel for your campfire. It’s comforting to know I’m wearing a durable mittens when out in the wilderness.

The inside of the mitten is fleece lined for warmth and features a DK Dry insert for waterproof protection from snow an water. Pair that with the touch screen compatible fleece liner gloves and you’ve got maximum warmth for cold weather hiking.

Bonus! The adjustable leash on each mitten let’s you freely remove each glove without worry of dropping it off a ski lift or leaving out on the trail. I used this feature extensively while filming my hiking videos for adjusting the camera and setting up each shot.

Overall I’m really happy with the Dakine Leather Scout Mitt, especially for the price point. They performed beautifully on my winter hike of the Zombie Trail in Missouri. I’m heading up to northern Michigan in a week on my annual winter cabin trip where I’ll really put them to the test. I’m confident they’ll perform great!
