Today I’m going to show you 3 ways to monetize your YouTube channel with less than 1000 Subscribers. If you want to make money on YouTube, which who doesn’t, these are 3 things that you can do RIGHT NOW to start making money. As of posting this blog I have less that 1k subscribers on YouTube, but I’ve still made money via my channel. Here’s how:

  1. Affiliate Marketing

  2. Selling Tshirts Online

  3. Google Adsense

Here are links to everything you need to start making money online!

What is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate Marketing is the process of promoting a product or service to your sphere of influence and receiving a commission when a person buys that product or service via your personal affiliate link. I love affiliate marketing because it’s a win for all parties: the company or service you’re promoting (with a sale / new customer), you (commission), and the buyer who now has an excellent product or service. ONLY affiliate with products or services you personally use or believe in.

TubeBuddy Affiliate Program

If you’ve watched any of my previous YouTube Tips & Tricks videos you’ll know that I am a big believer in TubeBuddy. I used TubeBuddy making this video. I think TubeBuddy is beneficial to anyone starting at YouTube channel in 2021.

Using TubeBuddy for Keyword Research

The awesome part of becoming a TubeBuddy member is that you automatically get your own TubeBuddy affiliate link to share in your YouTube videos. Everytime someone subscribes to TubeBuddy with your affiliate link you earn a 30% commission, that bumps up to 40% after 50 people join via your link, and 50% after 250 subscribers. So far I’ve had 2 people join TubeBuddy via my affiliate link and have made $12.96.

PRO TIP: Sign up for the Pro account | Toggle “Pay Annually” & “Less than 1,000 Subscribers” | and the price will drop to $3.60 per month!

Amazon Affiliate Program

Most affiliate marketing programs have a minimum number of followers you need to have on your channel (YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, whatever) before you can join their affiliate program, thus preventing smaller channels from earning affiliate commissions. Enter the Amazon Affiliate Program. It’s easy to set up an Amazon Affiliate account, and even easier to get your affiliate links.

Sell Tshirts Online

Selling custom tshirts could not be easier these days. There are multiple companies handling the whole process from hosting your online store, printing the shirts, and selling them to your buyers. All you have to do is design the shirt. And every custom tshirt store has an easy design program you can use. Here are my two favorite programs.

Sell tshirts on Threadless

Threadless is a community built for artists and graphic designers. I started making and selling tshirts I designed on Threadless in March of 2020. To date I’ve profited $328.60, easily my highest grossing revenue stream.

Sell tshirts on Teespring

Have you noticed certain YouTube channels have tshirts and other merch listed below their videos? Those products come from Teespring. Now your YouTube channel has to be monetized to add this feature to your videos, but you can start selling your merch on Teespring now. Then when your YouTube channel reaches monetization you’re set and ready to go!

NOTE: If you’re just now starting to sell tshirts online, use Teespring.

Set up Google Adsense for your Website or Blog

YouTube is owned by Google. You will need to have a Google Adsense account to monetize your YouTube channel. But again, this doesn’t mean you can’t start making money off Google Adsense right now.

If you don’t have a website yet connected to your YouTube channel, it’s probably time to set one up, mainly so you can create blog posts promoting your YouTube videos via traditional Google Search. (Squarespace and Weebly are my favorites.) I write a corresponding blog post for every one of my YouTube videos that goes a little deeper into the content I’m creating as well as to provide additional affiliate links and run ads via Google Adsense. I’ve only made $0.01 from Google Adsense, but hey! I will eventually have to have to Google Adsense so I might as well start making some money now.

NOTE!!! Read the Google Adsense Terms of Service VERY VERY VERY CAREFULLY. Google WILL suspend you from the service which will prohibit you from being able to monetize your YouTube channel. And from everything I’ve read online, it’s nearly impossible to get reinstated. You have been warned.
