Hiking 9 Miles in Staunton State Park with Friends | Colorado | Part 1

Staunton State Park is Colorado’s newest state park and is located near Conifer, Colorado, about 45 minutes from Denver. If you’re looking for where to hike near Denver this is perfect day hiking in Colorado. There are multiple trail options allowing you to create whatever distance you’re comfortable with (we did a 9 mile day hike) with multiple scenic overlooks. Most of the trails are multi use so there were some occasional mountain bikers riding by, but we had large sections of the trail to ourselves.

You’ll notice this hiking video is different from my previous ones in that we talk throughout the day hike and I’ve added music to make it one of those fun hiking video vlogs! Let me know what you think in the comments.

On my cross country road trip moving from LA to St. Louis I was blessed to be able to stop and stay with my good friends Derek and Liana who live in Evergreen, Colorado which is about 40 minutes outside Denver. They took me to Staunton State Park near Conifer, Colorado for a beautiful 10 mile day hike through Colorado’s newest state park.

All of us rated the trail as moderate. I don’t think kids would have any problems with these hikes, and the trails are dog friendly as well! Add to that ample parking and clean bathrooms and this is one of the best Colorado state parks I’ve visited. And there are campgrounds!
