A Spring Stroll through Queeny Park
I switch things up a bit in this YouTube video and explore one of St. Louis County’s biggest parks, Queeny Park. This was really more of a nature walk with the trail being half paved and half rock, but I was in the park already for my second dose of the vaccine so I figured I might as well check it out! Good thing too because I was lucky enough to catch the Dogwood Trail with all the dogwood trees in full bloom.
Why is it called Queeny Park?
Queeny Park is a St. Louis County park named after Edgar M. Queeny because the land was once part of their estate. The Queeny’s are a historic St. Louis family known for being the founders of Monsanto Chemical Company… eek. The Queeny’s originally sold the land to a real estate investment company in 1964, but in 1970 reacquired the land and started the process of turning it into the 564 acre park it is today, so thank you for that.
What to do at Queeny Park?
Being a St. Louis County park there are lots of activities at Queeny including: nature trails, horse back riding, fishing, picnic areas, playgrounds and probably the biggest dog park I’ve ever seen. It’s a great park for families to enjoy the Missouri outdoors so close to St. Louis.
