Taum Sauk to Mina Sauk Falls | Winter Waterfall

Welcome to Part II of my hike from Russell Mountain to Taum Sauk Mountain, Missouri’s highest point. If you haven’t yet, go check out Part I featuring views from Taum Sauk Tower and how I learned about the Highpointers Club, an organization dedicated to summiting the highest point in all 50 states. In this video I hike from the Taum Sauk highpoint to Mina Sauk Falls, a beautiful waterfall just 1.2 miles from the summit.

Mina Sauk Falls is definitely worth the short hike from the Taum Sauk Mountain summit.

Mina Sauk Falls is a beautiful waterfall just 1.2 miles from the Taum Sauk Mountain summit. The trail starts off easy as it’s curated and graveled for the first half mile then becomes rocky and rugged as you approach the falls. Following the trails signs going in a counterclockwise direction the trail is really a decent to the falls with the back half being a gradual less rugged hike back up to Taum Sauk. Visiting Mina Sauk Falls in winter gifted me with some very cool ice formations on the falls.

Where is Mina Sauk Falls?

Mina Sauk Falls is located in the St. Francois Mountains in Taum Sauk Mountain State Park, about 1.5-2hrs from St. Louis. If you’re looking for a St. Louis day hike to get out into nature, this is a great rewarding adventure. Doing some research after getting back from my hike I learned that you need to hike down to the bottom of the Falls via the Ozark Trail which connects to the Mina Sauk Falls Trail. I wish I had know this prior to be able to see more of the beautiful falls!
