I’m back at my favorite Missouri state park solo hiking Pickle Creek Trail in Hawn State Park. This is a lovely little Missouri hiking trail following Pickle Creek. AllTrails has it marked at 1.6 miles out and back, but I cross the creek and create a nice little loop trail.

The Best Missouri State Park
Hawn State Park is by far my favorite Missouri state park that I have visited, and Pickle Creek Trail is a wonderfully short hike following Pickle Creek perfect for splashing around in the water and searching for crawdads. Only an hour south of St. Louis in Ste. Genevieve, MO Hawn State Park is the perfect day trip for anyone in St. Louis looking to escape the city and get into the Missouri outdoors.
Who’s the Hawn in Hawn State Park?
Established in 1952, the first 1500 acres of the 5000 acre park were donated by school teacher Helen Coffer Hawn. Hawn started buying parcels of land in 1932 with the intention of donating them to Missouri for a park. In total she acquired 12 parcels and I could not be more grateful of her generous gift.
